Programme Overview

AIAP is a full-time, national AI engineering apprenticeship run by AI Singapore. Rather than teaching AI theory in a classroom, it puts apprentices to work on live projects with industry partners — building, deploying, and maintaining real production AI systems alongside experienced mentors.

The programme runs for either 6 or 9 months, depending on your background and assessment outcome, with the 9-month track being the flagship pathway most apprentices follow. It typically opens with a period of intensive, self-directed deep-skilling, followed by several months of hands-on project delivery where apprentices work in small teams to take an AI solution from messy data to a deployed, working product for a real customer.

A computer science degree is not required. Selection is based on your ability to learn quickly, think analytically, and work through real data problems — not your academic pedigree.

Curriculum

From deep-skilling to a deployed, real-world AI product — the full lifecycle in four phases.

Deep-Skilling Foundation

Focused, self-directed learning on the core technical skills needed for AI engineering: Python, statistics, data analytics, machine learning fundamentals, and software engineering practices. Delivered through hands-on exercises, group discussions, and code walkthroughs rather than lectures.

Real-World Project Delivery

Apprentices join small teams working on an actual AI use case brought in by an industry partner. This includes handling incomplete or messy datasets, shifting requirements, model building and training, and deploying the finished solution into production — the same conditions you'd face on the job.

Mentorship & Peer Learning

Throughout the programme, apprentices are supported by experienced engineers and mentors, and work closely with a cohort of peers who are going through the same deep-skilling journey.

Deployment & Handover

The programme culminates in delivering a working AI solution — typically an end-to-end pipeline that has been built, trained, and deployed for a real customer — giving you direct experience with the full lifecycle of an AI product.
